  2. Being English and my opinion on this is the US have some decent players they certainly aren't a push over. Although England do have better all round team. Personally 2nd is way up for grabs but if I was the US I'd fancy getting that spot. You'll more than likely face Nerthlands in round of 16 and tbh I think that will b your flight home after that. Any further will b a bonus

  4. You don't qualify for the World Cup being a weak team, so the US absolutely should not overestimate their chances against Iran or Scotland/Wales/Ukraine. That said, I wish other countries would continue to underestimate the US though. Side note, this group's memes write themselves.

  6. I realise that Lalas is viewed as some sort of "soccer" expert in the US. I presume he played in the MLS. The US finished third in CONCACAF. At the last World Cup England beat the CONCACAF representative 6-1 at the last World Cup. This sort of cockiness is delusional.

need 2 get BETTER with their OFFENSE BALL SKILLS!

The USMNT need 2 B better and QUICKER with their PASSING and BALL movement!

The USMNT need 2 do 1 Touch passing when they r in the Box, because the Defense is always Compact and the Passing lanes r very Small

  11. Comparing to the group Canada is in, US have far easier group. England have a history of not performing well in the big stage. And England have not beaten US in the world cup yet. Toughest match for US would be Iran due to their political history. Iranians will come with a must win mentality and against US.

  12. I m am european and i want the us to go through. Maybe even going as far as semi. Why? Cuz it s seems the only consistent way for football to grow in the us. Why would i want that? A massive pool of yet unknown talent, massive commercial potential, the work ethic of americans. I think with enough people intrested in the sport, the us can grow in 10 to 20 years a generation that will easily rival european powerhouses. Competition is always good.

  18. Well I wanted to mention something in regards to the World Cup itself, being it is the championship of the world it is something special and highly prestigious. Out of all the sports in the world, it is the most competitive and has the biggest draw given the global attention so like the Olympic games which comes every 4 years, this is the most popular sport in the world. In general American's tend to be spoiled given the United States of America is a Olympic super power for both Summer and Winter Olympics, and military super power and economic power, Americans are used to seeing USA teams win world championships and the same now with the USWNT. So who is going to win the World Cup this year 2022? I don't really know but I know some critics may get some things wrong and there could be some surprises, there will be disappointments.

My overall thoughts is in regards to the mentality of how the American fan would view the World Cup. Generally in the past other sports like basketball, football, baseball would be given more attention because historically along with even Ice Hockey there is a more winning tradition in those sports. In the men's world cup for soccer, the United States isn't Goliath like in the other sports it is the underdog team. If it was easy then anybody would be able to win this, but the real truth winning a World Cup is hard. The competition is brutally super competitive. All the teams and I mean all 32 teams are going into this to win, if there is going to be a global conflict and world war 3 it will be settled in the World Cup.
Other sports have their special moments, Football has the Super Bowl, NBA has the NBA finals, Ice Hockey the Stanley Cup and world championships and Olympics, Baseball the World Series. The World Cup for a soccer-football player, I am calling it soccer-football to combine the English and American translation for the sport not to be confused with American Football which America calls Football, is the NBA finals, World Series, Stanley Cup, Super Bowl all put together. There is no greater honor for any soccer-football player in the world to represent his country in front of billions of people in the world stage competing against the best of the best like a Top Gun competition. These are the best soccer-football teams in the world. The days of where just picking a small group of favorites to win is over. The mentality is everyone among the 32 teams is going there to win and thrash each other. It is not going to get any easier in 2026 where 48 teams will come into play and will be an even bigger tournament.

I don't know how well the USA men's team will do in this years world championship, but the fun of it is to see who is the best team in the world and best players. This is why the world championship is interesting to watch because it is super competitive world wide and globally. It is not like any other sports where a team can have total dominance over the game. It is going to be a highly exciting tournament and I will be glad to see who will be this years world champion.

  21. As an Englishman based in the USA, very happy with this draw. In Euro 2020, England conceded 2 goals in 7 games, and lost in the Final to Italy on pens. Its arguably England's strongest squad since 1990. However, Wales or Scotland are always tight games, and Ukraine would be emotive. Iran, despite comfortably qualifying, must be considered beatable. As for USA, we cant underestimate them, like 2010. England has more depth and talented players, but the USA will have organization, a strong work ethic, and discipline. Not expecting any easy games, but this England team should win Group B.

With more chemistry & cohesion with this 11 we’ll be dangerous come the World Cup. LDT & Aaronson first subs. 1 win on the road.(won’t have home games during WC vs more dangerous teams) We need new ideas!

Normal people would answer this differently, yet all the announcers made it sound like it will be a cakewalk. I think most of you have a very short memory. I see the US coming in 3rd.
